Synchronization Aspects of a Presentation Model for Hypermedia Documents with Composite Nodes
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper outlines the synchronization aspects of a hypermedia presentation model, called Nested Context Presentation Model (NCPM), which has three major features. First, it allows authors to specify temporal synchronization constraints among events of interest within hypermedia documents. Second, it allows asynchronous material, such as user interaction links, or programs, to be combined with synchronous material in a single hypermedia document. Third, it separates the presentation specification from the structural definition of the hypermedia document. The synchronization facilities of NCPM can be applied to any hypermedia model with composite nodes and, with minor simplifications, even to those conceptual models without composites. In particular, the synchronization facilities can be applied to those models that can be translated to MHEG objects.

TOCPN: Interactive Temporal Model for Interactive Multimedia Documents
Recently, much attention has been paid to interactive temporal models which let authors deene possible interactions with users and represent dynamic organization of hypermedia documents. The possibility of user interaction makes it very hard for authors to predict the course of presentation and to author a document without an authoring tool. The authoring tool then must be designed with a rich ...
متن کاملSynchronized Hypermedia Documents: a Model and its Applications
Authoring, delivering and presenting hypermedia documents is a complex task, since such documents can contain a large number of components bound by multiple temporal and layout constraints. Media items are files which have to be arranged on the screen and synchronized to be displayed to the user. The growth of network bandwidth encourages the use of rich media types in documents, such as animat...
متن کاملModelling Synchronized Hypermedia Documents
This paper presents a synchronization model for hypermedia applications. Several media, continuous, like video or audio file, or non-continuous, like text pages or images, are delivered separately over a network in a Webbased environment, and presented to the user in a coordinated way. The model is based on a set of synchronization relationships which define objects behavior during presentation...
متن کاملAllocating Data Objects to Multiple Sites for Fast Browsing of Hypermedia Documents
Many world wide web applications require access, transfer, and synchronization of large multimedia data objects (MDOs) (such as, audio, video, and images) across the communication network. The transfer of large MDOs across the network contributes to the response time observed by the end users. As the end users expect strict adherence to response time constraints, the problem of allocating these...
متن کاملHooking Up 3-Space: Three-Dimensional Models as Fully-Fledged Hypermedia Documents
This paper examines the incorporation of three-dimensional models into hypermedia systems as fullyedged documents. Their use provides hypermedia authors with an additional, powerful means of presentation. Display, linking, navigational, and authoring aspects of 3D hypermedia documents are discussed and are illustrated with examples taken from the Harmony Viewer for the Hyper-G hypermedia inform...
